Simply put, the WiiM Ultra simply connects to your hifi and allows you to play music from, for example, the internet through high resolution streaming services such as Tidal or Qobuz or from a connected hard drive that you've converted and stored your CDs on to and listen to them in pristine quality.

When you open an App, on your phone or tablet, to play music such Tidal or Spotify, or to watch a video on YouTube, you’ll often see a 'cast' logo, such as Chromecast, on the right. Casting allows you to select a compatible device on your network, in this case the Wiim Amplifier, and play music through that device. Your phone or tablet then simply becomes a remote control as the Wiim Amplifier can stream music directly via your router depending on how the app is configured.
