KCAG
KCAG offers a major step up in performance replacing the copper conductors in Silver Streak with high purity silver conductors. This all silver cable builds on the performance of all the preceding models. With all three conductors being AGSS silver, KCAG helps produce a smooth, rich, spacious sound with dynamic range, pacing and above all – musicality, way beyond any of its cheaper siblings.
A true audiophile grade cable that can satisfy the most demanding music lover and system.
Kimber AGSS pure silver conductors: the heart
of KCAG
KCAG interconnects are formed from Kimber’s own, high-purity AGSS silver wire and the manufacture of these wires highlights the lengths to which they are prepared to go in the quest for the finest sounding cables.
KIMBER KABLE® insist on the very best silver to produce their KCAG wire and source the finest raw material specifically for use in their cables (rather than using an ‘off-the-shelf‘ product). They introduced a painstaking manufacturing process to ensure that the integrity of this silver is maintained throughout the whole wire production process.
For example, the individual silver strands are produced by drawing the silver through a number of dies to create wire of the desired size. Significantly, Kimber use a larger number of dies than normal, and a greater number of slower passes to produce the wire.
It’s a time consuming and costly process but this is done to lower friction as the wire passes through the dies, minimising heat build-up which degrades the cable.
VariStrand™ conductors for an even frequency response
Once the wire strands have been produced, seven differently-sized wires are grouped to form each conductor.

This arrangement is called Kimber VariStrand™ and is an important feature of KCAG interconnects.
Most audio cables use either solid core or multi-core conductors which can be a problem because a single, specific diameter wire tends to favour a specific frequency: thicker ones favour bass, medium ones favour mids and the thinnest, treble.
To address this, each Kimber VariStrand™ conductor is itself made up of varying gauges of wire to give an even, accurate and efficient distribution of frequencies, presenting a natural, unforced and engaging musical performance.
Teflon® Dielectric
As with the conductors, the quality and application of the insulation material has a marked effect on cable performance. The low-loss, fluorocarbon (Teflon™) dielectric is a specially-specified ‘FEP co-polymer’ which can be applied at high pressure and low temperature, again to reduce heat build-up on the surface of the conductors.
Effective Connection

The quality of the connection between the cable and the component is vitally important to transfer a signal effectively and Kimber take great care in the manufacture of their RCA plugs.
Their unique UltraPlate™ connectors are fitted to KCAG and offer exceptional performance. These plugs are machined from a solid piece of metal and then go through Kimber’s proprietary plating process which provides high-conductivity, great durability, and is compatible with all other plating surfaces.
The Ultraplate™ connector also features a solid Teflon® dielectric and split centre pin for enhanced performance.
Avoiding the need for a shield
Kimber Kable® is famous for its legendary woven design: the ‘Kimber Weave’ makes their cables natural filters of Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) without any of the downsides associated with the need for traditional cable ‘shields’.
The problem is that every wire will, to a greater or lesser extent, act as an aerial for RFI. The most common solution to this problem is to use a shield, or screen, around the cable, to block out RFI.
However, this is not as effective as once thought as the metal shield itself can also act as an aerial, picking up RFI and injecting it directly into the signal ground - which kind of defeats the object.
Kimber addresses this problem by weaving the positive and negative conductors so that they cross each other several times per inch.
This braid is a highly effective signal conductor and the ‘counter-opposed helix’ geometry gives the cable a natural ability to reject RFI - described as the ‘capacitive cancellation‘ of crossing wires.
Put simply, the geometry makes the cable a very bad aerial, thereby acting as a natural filter against RFI.
